The West Bengal Board of Secondary Education (WBBSE) was established in 1951 under an Act of the State Legislature called the West Bengal Secondary Education Act of 1950. The basic task before the WB Board was twofold, to regulate, control and develop secondary education of the State, to conduct the School Examinations.

As being one of the primary objectives, the board conducts the School final examination that is called Madhyamik Pariksha.

The primary functions of this board is to prescribe the syllabi, courses of the studies and text books for different classes, organize research for grading of textual vocabulary and revise the text books from time to time. The Tripura Board provides quality education and improves the standard of education in the state.

The TBSE examination board is responsible for conducting exams for the 10th standard. The branch conducts exams at the end of the academic year and supplementary exams for the failed candidates.  The exams are conducted in the month of March. The results are declared in the month of May.
